Blessed

Today I used one of my new Hambone stamps to create this adorable Christmas card using colors I don't usually associate with Christmas.  I colored the image in with Prismacolor pencils and used gamsol to blend the colors.

Used my Martha Stewart border punch to make the white border which I used to weave ribbon through.  The sentiments are from a Simon Says Stamp set and I used silver to emboss them.  In the picture I think you can see where the embossing powder stuck and I was not able to see clearly enough to sweep it away with my paint brush.  I am noticing that my embossing buddy doesn't see to be very effective.  Maybe they "age" out?  I have had it for many many years and have found it failing me every time I use it.

The hearts along the side seemed to go with the sentiment nicely. I purchased them for $1.00 at Walmart and I cannot help it, I love them. They are little puffy sticker sweetness!

Bob and I have an advent calendar that we read every year.  It is a little poem about Jesus birth under each day.  Of course we have it memorized because this is probably our eighth year of using it.  One day he reads one through the current day and the next day it is my turn to do the same.

"One blessed day when Mary woke, an angel came to her and spoke.
Fear not, you are the favored one, God's chosen you to bear his Son."
And there is cause to celebrate for baby Jesus will be great.
Though this filled Mary with surprise, she knew that God was good and wise.
Then sometime later came the call that taxes must be paid by all.
So Mary and Joseph came to know to Bethlehem they both must go.
The way was rough and dusty too and Mary's child was shortly due.
When finally they arrived in town the noise and crowds made Joseph frown.
From each innkeeper came the same, we're all filled up they would exclaim.
His wife was weary Joseph knew, the child was coming, what to do?
One inkeeper with a sigh said, "Come, my stable's warm and dry.
And there before the night was done, a child was born, God's holy Son."
